I would like to tell everyone I had a wonderful holiday catching up with family and friends; however Santa brought me a cold for Christmas so I opted out of re-gifting my germs, stayed home and missing all holiday celebrations. One truly is the loneliest number at the holidays yet while I watched Disney’s Prep and Landing (adorable and clever!!) and every other holiday program in continuous repetition, I found a renewed appreciation for Facebook as friends and family let me experience their holiday as if I was there via photos and comment sharing.
Here are a couple of things I learned:
- A lot of people saw Avatar over the holidays, mixed reviews yet overall everyone said it contains amazing visual stimulation yet lacks a little on the dialog/plot side.
- New parents or people who had plenty of small children around them seem to be the ones full of the Christmas spirit the most.
- Making up new lyrics to Garfunkel and Oats song, “Year End Letter” with your sister will have you laughing so hard you will be crying. Note: The original version is plenty funny, follow the link above to listen, those girls are the female version of Flight of the Conchords.
- Retail Associations and the Media can’t seem to agree on the numbers for holiday spending yet. Does it matter? To quote the opening line from The Kid Stays in the Picture, “There are three sides to a story, yours, mine and truth.” Numbers can be manipulated to make a point for anything, what do you want to believe?
- Next year this time we might be longing for the days when the only thing we had to take off at the airport was our shoes. With all the talk about naked scanners after Christmas terrorist attempt maybe Lifetime TV will revive Carson Kressley’s “How to Look Good Naked” show with a new version, “How to Look Better in a Naked Scan Photo.” (Shamelessly, I was watched a lot of Lifetime movies while I was sick.)
